Shrien Dewani: You've Been Framed

“I consider myself to be bisexual. My sexual interactions with males were mostly physical experiences or email chats with people I met online or in clubs, including prostitutes such as Leopold Leisser.”

Shrien Dewani’s astonishing confession on the first day of his murder trial in South Africa, read out by his formidable and formidably expensive barrister Francois van Zyl, would determine the direction of the rest of the case.

The prosecution had hoped that exposing Mr Dewani as an active homosexual would provide a motive for him wanting to kill or arrange the killing of his beautiful wife, Anni, of only 15 days.

In fact, the opposite proved to be true. Judge Jeanette Traverso ruled that any argument about Mr Dewani’s homosexual behaviour could not be used as a motive for killing his spouse and was, therefore, irrelevant...

Fagburn has - as per - been pretty much a lone voice, crying in the wilderness like a lovelorn dingo, in suggesting Mr Dewani was being framed.

As to his actual involvement in the killing of 'his beautiful wife, Anni', well, that is entirely a matter for you.

PS The secret pain of being gay and Asian, The Times. Seems a bit shoehorned, but, you know, it's The Times...
